Research has found that several flavors may have a number of potential medical benefits. For example, ginger can ease stomach-related issues such as nausea, turmeric has been shown to reduce aggravation, and cinnamon can help regulate glucose levels.

In a review distributed in the Worldwide Diary of Sub-atomic Sciences, researchers at Texas A&M AgriLife evaluated the metabolic effects of cardamom in mice to assess its actual capacity as a characteristic treatment for metabolic circumstances such as difficulty.


To conduct the research, the researchers fed 32 male mice either a control diet or a diet containing 3, 6 or 12% cardamom for a significant period of time. Cardamom was collected in Guatemala and provided by Calf Worldwide.


After 14 weeks, the researchers found that the cardamom-eating mice gained less weight than the control mice—despite having a slightly higher food consumption. Likewise, rodents in the cardamom group lost fat while gaining bulk.


When the researchers looked into this further, they found that cardamom modified the circuits of the mind that affect hunger and manage the cycles of muscle and fat consumption. Similarly, taste appeared to increase mitochondrial oxidative digestion in liver and skeletal muscle.


In light of these discoveries, the group determined the expected portion of cardamom for humans using body surface area standardization conditions. The ideal amount for a 132-pound adult is said to be 76.9 to 308.4 milligrams of cardamom bioactives each day, which adds up to 14.5 to 58.3 grams of cardamom seeds, or 18.5 to 74.2 grams of units cardamom.

In any case, the review used mice, so it's unclear if the effects on weight loss and lean muscle would be similar in humans. While human research is inadequate, one 2022 methodological audit and a meta-examination of six investigations including human members found that cardamom showed no critical effects on weight loss.


Additionally, there is currently no suggested or set serving size for cardamom – however, it appears to be safe to eat in amounts commonly observed in foods.


In addition, overweight or obese women with prediabetes who participated in a recent report consumed 3 grams of cardamom daily and revealed only mild secondary effects, including loose bowels and skin or tongue irritation.
