Speaking about the event, he sought the participation of guardians in the fight against polio.

"The Pakistan Public Polio Laboratory at NIH Islamabad has confirmed the discovery of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in two natural (sewage) samples collected in Peshawar and Rawalpindi in July 2023. This is the sixth positive example from Peshawar and the main positive example from Rawalpindi this year, ” said NIH Islamabad authority.

Dr. Nadeem Jan said the presence of polio in the climate is of exceptional concern because it poses a continuing danger to the prosperity of young people.


"The most effective way to protect children from the crippling poliovirus is polio vaccination," he said.


The clergyman added that the anti-polio program has prevented the spread of the infection in previous recognition and will continue its efforts for early detection and rapid response to kill the poliovirus wherever it is found.


Dr. Shahzad Baig, organizer of the Public Crisis Tasks Place for Polio Destruction, said the Pakistan Polio Program maintains a profoundly fine network of polio research, which is evident from the climate's rapid discoveries of infection.


"We are conducting phased immunization crusades in the country and are also working closely with the polio program in Afghanistan to boost vaccination at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border to mitigate the risk of spread," he said.


A polio crusade was held in 65 regions of the country, including Rawalpindi from August 7 to 13, this month to immunize more than 8,000,000 youth under the age of five.


Pakistan has reported two cases of polio and 16 positive natural examples so far this year, while Afghanistan has detailed five cases and 33 positive examples.
